Cultural changes and World War II influenced Retro Jewelry (1939 through 1950).
Retro jewelry designs were inspired by preceding periods. A variety of gems, shapes, and materials were used. In the wartime era, patriotic and industrial motifs were often displayed on retro pieces.
Due to the war, access to many materials was limited, so jewelry designers focused on using large amounts of polished gold alloys, copper, and palladium but relatively few gemstones.
